TTC,

I think Anon.is onto something. (I.e. Something might have been lost -or added-in translation)

I hear that Archbshp Glaubner is a Focolare member, and is probably not well-disposed towards the EF to begin with.

We should give HH the benefit of doubt here. There have been other 2nd hand accounts where the Pope is supposed to have said something that the relater would have himself said. I think there is a strong possibility that we are hearing Archbshp Glaubner's sentiments via his embellishment of a response to a leading question.

  1. Well, perhaps, except that Pope Francis can, and should, step up and clarify the statements attributed to him. It is a trick of politicians, ruling nobility, and debaters, to give a general comment, or exhortation, and then let their underlings run with it: "will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?" had the tragic outcome of the murder of St. Thomas Becket. Perhaps Pope Francis is a wily fox and says things, or does not clarify statements that others said he said (and he knows it), and waits to see what happens. The statement itself demands challenge, as, among other things, it is a direct affront to Pope Benedict XVI and to the Tradition of the Catholic Church. The Novus Ordo is not going to be the "ordinary" mass of the Catholic Church for much longer. The Magisterium says that it is a valid mass, but there are many defects to it, including its very provenance. The TLM, however, attracts many youthful Catholics, and its orders continue to grow. The heart of Francis is likely best shown by what happened to the poor Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. Surely the Pope understandings the terrible injustice here, yet he does absolutely nothing to correct it. Too bad that this noble order was not Catholic, there would be a tsunami of support for its suffering from the Vatican. /s/St. Christopher.
